Adults are recommended to have their eyes checked by an optometrists yearly, and 6-monthly for adults who have systemic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure. Digital eye strains, headaches, cataracts etc can be detected with an optometrist eye check. A full eye examination for adults would include: - Refraction (checking of power such as long-, short-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia) - Binocular vision assessment (detecting digital eye strains, lazy eyes, squint eyes etc) - Colour vision assessment - Anterior eye health assessment (checking of the health of corneas, eyelids, eye lashes etc, this is especially required for contact lens wearers) - Eye pressure (to determine if it is too high, or too low) - Posterior ocular health (this is where we see if there is diabetes or other health conditions that can affect the eyes)
