Building Construction Technology Expo 2021 to showcase BIM as backbone for digitalization of the building and construction industry

Bangkok, Thailand, 17th March 2021 – Building Construction Technology Expo 2021 (BCT Expo 2021) – the international exhibition and conference focusing on digital transformation of the building and construction industry – shall take place at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand from 1st to 3rd September 2021.
Organized with the theme “Towards Digitalization of the Building & Construction Industry – Are You Ready”, BCT Expo 2021 will serve to be the regional platform to support ongoing digital transformations impacting every aspect of architectural design, building, and construction sectors through the application of digital technologies and solutions.
Over 200 international and local exhibitors and brands will be participating to showcase a wide range of technology, digital and physical systems, equipment, materials and solutions that help improve building and construction efficiency to over 4,000 trade visitors and industry players from all sectors of the building and construction industry from Thailand and the surrounding ASEAN region.
BCT Expo 2021 is organized at a time where pressures from digital accelerations are coming from many directions. These include changing customer expectations, emerging technology, new generation of building and construction professionals, active digital start-ups within the industry, supportive government building and construction policies focusing on digitalization, and growing importance of BIM as the backbone of digitalization for building and construction industry.
Ms. Watinee Saithong, Project Manager of BCT Expo 2021, revealed, “Last year due to COVID 19, BCT Expo was organized as a virtual exhibition platform to serve as a key digital touch-point for the industry to continue to gather and be connected. This year, we are going ahead with our physical edition to deliver a face-to-face physical event focusing on digitalization of the building and construction industry.”
Prof. Dr. Amorn Pimanmas, President of the Thai Building Information Modeling Association (TBIM), added that currently, the application of building information modeling (BIM) is relatively new in Thailand. He said, “We believe that BCT Expo 2021 can increase awareness of current digital trends, and educate our industry to embrace new technologies such as BIM. TBIM is hence, pleased to join hands with BCT Expo 2021 to push BIM as a key driver and backbone for our digital transformation.”
Dr. Amarnath Chegu Badrinath, President of India Building Information Modeling Association (IBIM), a supporting organization of BCT Expo 2021 also shared how BIM is now leading digital transformation in the Indian architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. He said, “The AEC industry in India employs over 35 million people, and contributes over 11% of India’s GDP with many mega smart infrastructure projects, ranging from smart buildings, public infrastructures to cities. BIM is one of our notable digitalization methodologies as it helps reduce project time delays, cost overruns, and litigations. IBIM is committed to promote the development of BIM technology to support the digital transformation of the Indian AEC sector.”
