Prefabricated Vertical Drain

This type of ground improvement method is designed to accelerate the consolidation process of soft compressible layer (i.e., clay, silt) especially soft soil of 20 m to 30 m deep. The PVD must be designed with preloading or surcharge material as a function of additional stresses to expedite the consolidation process. It will gives reduction in total settlement estimated and increase the soil strength of soft soil. Prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) is made of corrugated plastic core with geotextile. It will install up to certain designed depth and spacing. Widely used in Malaysia for construction of road embankment, residential and commercial development, warehouse and industrial development, etc.
